The Summer School on Pharmaceutical Analysis (SSPA) is planned under the auspices of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC). SSPA is mainly addressed to researchers and PhD students from the Faculties of Pharmacy and Sciences and to researchers from pharmaceutical industries. Since 2008, SSPA covers a three-year program on the most advanced analytical methodologies involved into the launch of new drugs, starting from the discovery phase (hit identification, structure properties relationship), through drug development (lead optimisation, ADMET studies, biomarkers identification), ending with formulation quality control and validation. New cycles will follow, in which the most recent analytical topics in the specific phase will be introduced.

On 2011, a new three year cycle will begin with SSPA 2011 focused on ADVANCED ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES IN DRUG DISCOVERY. The school will be held in Pavia (Italy) on the 19-21 September 2011, before RDPA 2011.

International scientists coming to Pavia for the SSPA 2011 may take the opportunity to enlarge their knowledge into the fields of pharmaceutical analysis in the frame of the most advanced methodologies for characterizing ligand-target protein interaction through bioaffinity chromatography with immobilized target proteins, NMR, MS techniques, luminescence and FRET methods for ligand screening and hit selection.

The school is open to a limited number of students and the official language is English.
On the behalf of the Scientific committee, it is my pleasure to cordially invite all young scientists involved in the field of pharmaceutical analytical methodologies to join us in Pavia.
